Fine Antique Restoration Services by Simon Lorkin
Providing services in Surrey, Sussex, London and the South East since 1991 and Normandy in France since 2004.
“My restoration methods are traditional and are always in-keeping with the item. I am a skilled and qualified craftsmen with over 30 years experience. Traditional restoration and conservation methods take years to learn, perfect and take time to carry out. Items can be with me for weeks depending on the complexity of the job.”
Pricing
Estimates are given based on seeing the item in person. I cannot price restoration work over the telephone, via email or from photographs as every item and its restoration requirements is individual. Please get in touch with me to discuss your restoration project and we’ll book a date for me to come and see the item and then I’ll be able to provide a written estimate based on the work involved.
Rarely, during the restoration process, more work is discovered or becomes apparent. In this instance I would always contact you to discuss what is involved and how much extra it would cost.
If you are making a claim through your home insurance I am happy to deal directly with them if you prefer.
Payment
Before commencing work a 50% deposit is required, when I collect the item(s). The other 50% is to be paid upon delivery of your restored item. Payments can be made in Sterling cash or cheques, Euros or French cheques or by bank transfer.
Collection/delivery
Within Surrey, Sussex and London collection and delivery of your items is normally free. If I need to travel further a field we may make a charge, but we would always let you know beforehand.
As you know by now I live in the Normandy countryside on the other side of the Channel so I book appointments to visit and see items and meet you. I can take the item away at the time or if you’d prefer I can collect it on my subsequent trip over to the UK, a few weeks later.
All items are fully insured (as they were when my workshop was in Shere in Surrey). They are safely protected for the journey. They are then restored in my workshop on my property (protected by CCTV) in the quiet Normandy countryside. When the items are ready I get in touch to book a time and day that is convenient for you to deliver your item(s) on my next trip over.
For your reassurance, since I moved over here to Normandy in 2004 I have never had a single issue with regards to the safety and security of items as I protect you items as if they were my own.
Whatever your item of antique furniture, please CONTACT ME to discuss the restoration you are looking for.
